Hair loss is hard for anyone, but as a woman, it can be especially difficult. Here at The Hair Loss Recovery Program, we have a wide assortment of effective treatments that can help reduce, or in some instances, stop hair loss in women. We use FUE tools in addition to other topical treatments depending on the cause of the hair loss. All of our treatments are tailored to meet the individual needs of each of our valued patients.
Hair Loss & Hair Transplants For Women
At Hair Loss Recovery, we specialize in hair transplants. Over the past decade, we have seen a large number of female clients who were interested in undergoing a transplant procedure. Prior to their treatment, most of these women suffered serious hair loss which was noticeable not only to themselves but also by others. Though not often talked about in mainstream media, female hair loss and female hair transplants are actually quite common. We work with our clients to create long-term solutions for their hair loss to help restore their confidence and boost their self-esteem.
Women’s Hair Loss
Men’s hair loss can start as early as the mid-’20s, but in women, it can start at any age. In some cases, hair loss may be hereditary, but in others, there is no clear cause. Many women will suffer from hair loss so minor that it may take years before they see a noticeable drop in length and volume. Female-pattern alopecia is the most common form of hair loss which results in thinning hair over the top of the scalp. Some hair loss may be extreme but temporary. Hormonal changes, stress, and even pregnancy can all affect the hair. Due to such variations in causes, it is important to seek the advice of a professional when treating hair loss in women.
Both men and women tend to suffer hair loss as a result of androgenetic alopecia. This heredity sensitivity to androgens affects the hair follicles on the scalp. In some cases, it can even cause the hair of the eyebrows and the eyelashes to fall out. In men, this will manifest as true baldness, but in women, it will appear in a variety of patterns.
Common Patterns of Female Androgenetic Alopecia
The most common pattern of this hair loss is a thinning over the entire scalp. There is generally more thinning on or around the back part of the scalp. The next most common form is the entire scalp thinning with the front losing more hair without any noticeable effect to the front hairline. The third type most often seen is full scalp thinning with the front hairline and front part of the scalp losing the most hair.
Treating Female Hair Loss
There are a few different causes of female hair loss. It may be a result of scarring from other procedures or due to a genetic condition. When hair loss is caused by these types of problems, it can be corrected in our office. We use Follicular Unit Hair Restoration to help restore the hairline and help to re-grow our client’s natural head of hair.
For some women, the issue may not be with hair loss itself. Women can choose to lower their hairline to improve the visual aesthetics of their face. Follicular Unit Hair Restoration also works to create a new hairline in both the front and the back of the hair. One advantage of women’s hair transplants with The Hair Loss Recovery Program is that they look natural and are completely permanent.
