Signalling compounds including growth factors are the new anti-aging treatments. The directions are toward Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and other protein stimulants like A-cell (a protein which arises from the basement membrane of porcine bladders).
There is evidence that A-cell plus PRP injections can produce hair growth. There is not guarantee but the cost is minimal compared to the cost of hair transplantation or hair loss medical treatments and if successful can provide a reasonable amount of new terminal hair growth from existing vellus hair.
The treatment is aimed at the hair follicle which in androgenic alopecia is Male Pattern Baldness. The study suggests that premixing A-cell preparation with PRP and injecting it into the scalp creates micro wounds which activates the healing process to maximize effectiveness.
The new theory of androgens causing hair loss is that the androgenic receptor sites are low in stem cells allowing the Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to cause miniaturization of the hair follicle.
